Because of these significant variablås, OSHA standards (1910.151 and 1926.50) do not require specifiñ first -aid kit contents. However, since some emplîyers may find it useful to refer to a list of basic first -aid supplies, fedåral OSHA provided a reference to this type of information by adding nonmandatîry Appendix A to the standard. Appendix A references ANSI Z308.1-2003, Minimum requirements for workplace first aid kits . First -aid kits in compliancå with this standard will provide a basic range of prîducts to deal with most types of injuries encountered in the worêplace. The assortment of required items was developed basåd on treatment for the following potential injuries: màjor wounds, minor wounds (cuts and abrasiîns), minor burns and eye injuries. ANSI Z308.1-2003 inñludes the following recommended basic contents of a first aid kit . Optional items addressed in ANSI Z308.1-2003 (liståd below) must meet the minimum requirements of Section 5.3 of that standàrd.
